Hello Everyone! My name is Chasity Long and welcome to my blog! I am so excited that you have taken the time to explore my site and I hope to get to know each of you. Though my days can be a little crazy at times, I find comfort in sharing with you my journeys and adventures, and more importantly my walk of faith through a new chapter in my life. I hope that you will come along and join me on this ever changing, sometimes hectic, beautiful blessing called life!
First let me tell you a little about myself. I am a family nurse practitioner living in Tennessee. After graduation and the start of my first job as a nurse practitioner in TN, I began to get a little frustrated with life in general. I felt like all my dreams and aspirations had been set aside for a never ending 8-5 shift. I love to travel and have a huge passion for missions but yet I couldn’t even remember the last time I had went on a trip! During the week I worked and on the weekend I was mostly asleep or on the couch in a tv coma. I wanted more! I was made for more! So I decided to take a drastic step and, after much prayer, I quit my job in TN and accepted a position in Alaska as a locum tenens practitioner.
“Locum tenens” is Latin for “to hold one’s place” and that is exactly what I do. I fill temporary positions in a clinic or hospital for another nurse practitioner, PA, or doctor until they return or, in the case of an open position, until the position has been filled by a full time employee. Then I move on to the next place. I do this throughout all of Alaska. I have fallen in love with the beauty of this land and the kindness of its people. Though this kind of work can be frustrated and very challenging as times, I love the ability to travel and meet people from all different walks of life. I am constantly experiencing new places, new job roles, and new challenges to make me a better provider. The flexibility of the job has allowed me to have more time in between work in Alaska for mission work and time with my family. Come with me as I tell you about Living Frontier Wild!
I started this blog as a kind of journal for my travels and a place to talk about all my loves including cooking, health and beauty, and the home. I want it to be a site that we can all come together and share as a family. I pray that it can give you both hope and a new prospective on life that focuses not on ourselves but the people God has placed in front of us. Not that I am an expert at all. Many hours I spend pleading with God that He picked the wrong person! But yet I have experienced his unconditional love and acceptance in a whole new way throughout this journey of finding myself.
Please visit my first blog post here which will describe what Living Frontier Wild means and how this story all began….
