OK folks here is the last halloween tutorial I have for you this year. Just like the last one, it is a pretty disgusting, gross one. There is a weird fasination in society today with zombies. So this tutorial is going to be all about getting that decaying, rotten skin of a zombie.
So let’s get started! First I covered my arm with some horror flesh. Now this stuff is pretty neat because once it dries it will crack and give your skin a lot of texture that the liquid makeup will really stick to. Bad thing about this stuff is it takes FOREVER to dry. So make sure you do this when you have enough time to wait on it. For best results you want to put on a thin layer and let it completely dry and then apply another layer. I did three layers of this stuff total. Below is what the horror flesh will look like when it is almost dry.
Now one thing I forgot to add is that I used a textured sponge to give the horror flesh more texture. Next step is to take some liquid face paint to start making bruises around the horror flesh. Now I used a bruise wheel that had a deep purple, olive green, black, and brown paints from this makeup kit. As you can see in the picture above I started with the olive green on the outer parts of the arms and then as I worked inward I layered on deeper shades of black and purple. Once the horrow flesh dried I layered on more paint to make the bruising deeper. I also worked in some red into the inner parts to make it look like the skin was just ripped off the arm to leave gaping holes.
Once I had the skin bruising just right I began to take my foundation brush with no product on it and blended out the edges to make the brusing look like it was fading out. I also made a deep laceration to the side of the arm (please read previous blog to see how to do this). Next I applied some liquid latex to the areas that I wanted the skin to look like it was decaying and falling off.
Then place pieces of tissue on top of the liquid latex and then put another layer of the liquid latex. Then let this completely dry.
I continued to do this everywhere that I wanted the skin to peel off.
Once the latex completely dries it will look shiny like plastic so take some light colored foundation and brush it on top the tissue and latex.
Now you want to cover with face paint to give the effect of more bruising.
Next you are going to take some tweezers and start pulling the latex and tissue away slightly at the edges. Pull until you get enough of the tissue hanging to look like decaying flesh. Then you want to take some black face paint and push this into the skin under the tissue and latex layer. This will make the wound look deeper. Then put more red and black face paint around the decaying skin and to the hanging tissue to cover it. It should start looking something like this.
Then to tie the entire look together you are going to apply some thick fake liquid blood into the openings of the skin and into the laceration to the side. Hold your arm up above your head and let the blood drip down the arm to make it look like the blood is literally running down your arm.
Hope this tutorial was helpful and now you can go get your Zombie on!
